Dear Constable Geoff,

I am writing to  thank you for taking the time to come and  talk to the year 7 and 8 students at Glenbrae School, about your career as a police officer.

I found it really interesting when you talked about having goals, and working hard for what you want. It was funny when you talked about reading with your friends on the weekend to improve your reading and writing skills, and bribing them with food.

The advice you gave that  anyone can do anything
has inspired me to do well in school, and to stay focused.

Yours sincerely

Salelei

badminton recount salelei

TODAY  WAS THE LAST SESSION WE HAD FOR  BADMINTON.
I PARTNERED UP WITH GEMIMA, AND WE PLAYED AGAINST LENNYX AND JACK.It was fun hitting the shuttle cox over the net. My favourite thing about badminton is playing with my friends. I found learning the backhand was difficult because I could not get the grip right.Robbie our instructor showed me how to hold the raquet properly. Badminton is a cool sport to play, I think I might  practice during the holidays.

Loopy People!

Today I learnt to measure body parts, half each measurement, use the halved measurement to create a loopy person.

Reflection:

It was easy to measure
It was hard to halve the measurements.

In term 1, my class has been learning about survival in the wild. Today was the day for my presentation.
Desire and I came up with a matching game, aimed at year 3 and  4 students. Each student had to match the word to the picture. It looked like the kids were having fun with it. I had fun presenting it.

basketball

There are 5 players on each team. Each  player dribbles the ball, and tries to shoot the ball into the hoop. I have learnt that basketball is a team game. The warm ups have been hard and physical.
I have also learnt how to dribble the ball, chest pass and do cool moves with the basketball. Anyway I have had a blast playing basketball, Give it a Go....

Long Bay Trip

Long Bay trip On Monday 7th of  April year 7 and 8 students from rooms 9 and 10 went by bus on a trip to Long Bay Regional Park to learn about survival skills in the wild.
Once we arrived at the park, we assembled
under the shelter, and Sandra who was a park ranger introduced the rest of her team to us.
Sarah, james and Maureen along with Miss Atuahiva and Tevita accompanied my group on our hike to Green Bay. Sarah showed us how to read a map, and we got to pick where we wanted to go. Students took turns at being a  team leader, and a tail charlie(person at end of line)
Next we found ourselves pitching up tents on our own and learning how to be safe when using a hobo stove. The exciting part was frying my own sausage (YUMMY)
After lunch it was off to make a make shift stretcher, using two pieces of long wood and four jumpers.
Each of us had turns pretending to be injured. Morag, who is a park ranger , showed us how to carry the stretcher. It wasn’t easy. The hardest part was actually carrying the patient without dropping them.
Finally the bus arrived to pick us up. I sat on the bus tired and weary from my day, thinking about what I learned, with my eyes closed all the way back to school.

Next we went with Laura to the rainforest to see the native birds, and native trees. Flying above us I could see the Kereru, and the fantail birds.
Richard showed us the Kiwi enclosure. Before that, we stopped to see the big massive eels.
Richard explained to  us when the female eels lay their eggs, they go all the way to Tonga.
After lunch my group went to explore the rest of the zoo. I saw a elephant, giraffe , cherval, seals and penguins, just to name a few.

My dad

Hi there,
Read this book on Sunshine online. The story is about a boy's  Dad who had a stroke and ended
up in a wheelchair. The boy was happy to have his Dad home again. He helps out as much as he
can, because of Dad being ill. This story  makes me realize how important my Dad is to me.

Preparing For A Day In The Forest

when exploring with a adult in the forest, it is important  to have the correct
clothing, and equipment
clothing such as long track pants,
long sleeve shirt, sun hat and
comfortable boots for walking.
You will also need a packed lunch and a bottle
of water for dehydration
An adult with you will need  a mobile phone, in
case you get lost and a first aid kit in case someone is hurt.

Tell someone where you are going, and check the weather forecast.

Maths Graphs

Today I learnt to present my data as a line graph
and an area graph.

Bio Poem

Salelei
Cheerful, kind, respectful
Lover of video games, watching T.V and spending time with family.
Who wonders why there is so much killing in the world.
Who fears spiders, shortage of food in the world and big dogs that bark.
Who feels delighted when alone playing video games
Who is scared of dying
Who is able to complete any video game, watch TV without blinking and win a burger eating competition.
Who would like to get an autograph from rocky (Sylvester Stallone), visit America and Go to Disney world.
Who dreams of being a game tester.
Lazy!!.
